  1. Change drive where OneDrive saves local copies of files

OneDrive is set to save local copies of my files in my C Drive, where the OS and apps are supposed to store, instead of the D Drive where I want to save files. How do I change this?

I haven't synced any files locally yet, as I think part of my Windows problem was a full C Drive. I want to move the default save folder before I download any files.

    :)

  2. Saving files locally only?

OK, thank you for clarifying that for me, Henry. There is a way to save a Word/Excel file online to your computer.

    1. Click on File on the upper left-hand corner.
    2. Click on Save As.
    3. Click on Download a Copy.

This option would allow you to save the file locally onto your computer. However, the word/excel file will still automatically save to your OneDrive, but you can discard it once the file is onto your computer. I hope this helps. Please let me know if this works for you.

how to copy files from the CD to the Computer drive

    Hi Hankriegler,

I would suggest you to follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X.

    • Click file explorer from the list.

    • Select the CD/DVD drive and hit Enter.

    • Select the files you want to copy from the CD/DVD, then select the drive where you want to paste or save.
I hope the information is helpful.

    Thank you.

File History Backup and Local OneDrive Files

The local OneDrive files are backed-up automatically if the local OneDrive folded is included in the definition of the File History Backup folder to be included in the back-up.

The issue is any files in the OneDrive folder must be changed by either moving them or saving them at least one time after the original backup is run before they are included in the backup. I'm not sure this is behavior was by design, or just due to the
mechanism that is used to track file changes. If OneDrive and File History use the same mechanism to determine whether a file has been changed, this could explain the behavior. OneDrive says the file is current so File History does not make a backup copy
until the next time the file is changed.

Since the File History Backup would save a new copy of any local file that had been updated by OneDrive, File History would backup the most current version in its history once it runs the next time (once per hour in my case). File History files are never
automatically copied back to replace the current OneDrive file, its a one way process, so there is no issue of overwriting a newer file in OneDrive, just like any other file backed up in File History does not overwrite the current version on the local drive.

Whatever the reason for the current behavior, it world be nice to have choice whereby all files in the local OneDrive folder are included in the File History Backup the same way all other files are included
from the offset, meaning they don't have to be moved or re-saved once before being included.

    Regards,

    Tom
