Change Edit photo to UWP app in context menu

Hi! I'm having a problem with which program/app is associated with editing photos in Windows 10 20H2. Tried a bunch of different solutions offered on this and other forums, but none of them worked. To describe my problem more clearly here is a screenshot of the context menu (I'm sorry it's in Swedish, but I'll translate the important parts). As you can see, when I right-click on an image (.jpg in this case) I have the choice to Edit (Redigera) and Edit with Paint 3D (Redigera med Paint 3D). Now, I uninstalled Paint 3D, rebooted and it still shows. It's a minor problem though as I am more interested in the single "Edit" context which I would like to replace with the Snip & Sketch UWP app because it is the fastest way to re-crop an image and keeping the same file name. Tried the next thing which was editing the registry using this guide: Change App for Edit Image Context Menu Command It said go to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\edit\command" and change the path to whichever program you want. Opening regedit as admin (which you had to do to even see the key) I changed the standard string which was to Edit in Paint 3D to Edit in Snip & Sketch app: "%systemroot%\system32\explorer.exe ms-screenclip:" The only effect this had was to open the "which program do you want to launch" when clicking on Edit in the context menu. It's better than before but it would be nice if the app started directly when clicking Edit on the menu. I realize Snip & Sketch is a UWP app and doesn't behave like a normal .exe or .dll but I'm sure it's not impossible to solve...?

    :)

Windows 10 Photos App crashing when in the edit menu

    Hello everyone!
Just recently (within the week) my Photos Application has started crashing

Change Edit photo to UWP app in context menu [IMG]

This happens most often when I'm in the editing menu

Sometimes it crashes on startup - Sometimes when I enter the Editing Menu - Sometimes when I attempt to edit

Things I've attempted to do to fix

    • Uninstall and reinstall the app
    • Contact Microsoft Support (cringe)
    • sfc /scannow
    • Restore Libraries to default
    • Created another local account
    • Clear the app cache
    • Check disk health (extremely healthy)
    • Add a Microsoft Account / Connect a Microsoft account
    • Put photos in a different folder / drive
    • The system Troubleshooter.

    NOTHING HAS WORKED

    Possible Causes .
    • My photos are located on another disk Change Edit photo to UWP app in context menu :)G) - I have an SSD (128GB) for boot - A 1TB regular drive for Programs and another 1 TB drive for documents/photos/etc.

I've followed every guide possible and still nothing has worked. I need some serious help *Mad
So strange how it just started happening, Please help, any suggestions are appreciated as this is a major headache for me!

Change target of "Edit" command in context menus

Hey all... I'm trying to change the Edit command on the context menu in Vista. I know you can get programs that edit this stuff, but I only want to change it for jpegs so I can load photoimpact easily (don't say "get photoshop", I'm just used to photoimpact). So ideally I would just find the registry entry and change it, but can't find it *Frown Change Edit photo to UWP app in context menu :(

    Anyone know how?

Change Edit photo to UWP app in context menu

Change target of "Edit" command in context menus

Ok I see what you mean...you want "Open" and "Edit" to be associated with two separate programs.

I know that in my context menu that if I choose "Open With" I can then choose from say CS4/Paint/IrfanView/Windows Photo Gallery etc and choose the appropriate program for my task.

But anyway.. the regedit is also a good way to know for future reference.
