Windows 10: Change file location

Hi All

I have just changed my laptop after 10 years with my previous one. As I have done on my PC. I need to change the location of Documents, Videos, Pictures, Music and Downloads from C which is an SSD to D the HDD, now I have done this before no problem, but this time I forgot to create a folder for each one in the D before moving to the new location, using for each folder. Right click > Properties > Location > Find target > Copying the path > Paste into location box > Apply. So the download folder is the D drive not a folder in the D drive! I can not work out to reverse this and I have another folder named incorrectly and I am also unable to change this.
When I try to change the Downloads folder to the folder I created in the D drive, I get the message "The folder can't be moved here The specified path is invalid" and as I said the other one I cannot rename.
Any ideas or do I have to do some sort of system restore. Thanks

Change default file receive location.

Unfortunately not.

All files have to pass through phone memory so you need the space available to hold the file before moving it to the card.

It's a limitation of the series 40 operating system.

Hi All,

I have 3110Classic model, and I am using a 1GB SD Memory card along with it.

The problem that i am facing is whenever I try to receive a big file through Bluetooth, it fails to receive it and on the other end it say failed to Delivered,

After doing a small R&D I come on a conclusion that it is because of my low Phone Memory(not the Mermory of SD card).

Is there any way thorugh which I can change the default storage location of files received from Phone Memory to SD Memory card.

Always make sure you have an appropriate disk image (Macrium Reflect free is preferred by many here), restore point, or other effective backup before making changes that might mean seeking technical help.

I tried but got nowhere, but thank you for your advice, much appreciated. As it was a new laptop, I decided it was easier to take it back to its original factory settings and start moving documents, pictures etc to the D drive, all OK its a simply job if you are not rushing things! Once again, thank you.

Hi, ok, it took a while on that thread to work thru to a solution.

Now, if you're not already doing it, then create a disk image.
- when your PC is working well, and before you start making changes, installing things.. apart from (e..g. Macrium Reflect (free)) then
Create a disk image using (e.g. Macrium Reflect (free)) and create its boot disk - you'll need external storage for the images.
(Best to create a system image for Win 10 really, as it consists of 4 partitions)

Then when you've made some changes (keep a simple log) and all is well,
Update your image

That way you can always restore your PC to how it was
- beats ransomware
- provides a full backup
- allow you to replace your disk
- can avoid resorting to technical assistance
- provides a relatively quick easy recovery even from an unbootable PC (hardware faults aside).
