Windows 10 Our file system is straight forward as we prefix every file with the date like: 15-07-2022_Meaningful_Name.DOCX 17-07-2022_Meaningful_Name.pdf This works for us and we have a 5000+ files named in this way. My issue is when a folder is opened in File Explorer Windows does not display the files by strict date order, here is an example 01-06-2021_Meaningful_Name.pdf 01-06-2011_Meaningful_Name.pdf 01-06-2009_Meaningful_Name.pdf 14-04-2021_Meaningful_Name.pdf 14-04-2011_Meaningful_Name.pdf 14-04-2009_Meaningful_Name.pdf 21-08-2021_Meaningful_Name.pdf 21-08-2011_Meaningful_Name.pdf 2

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Displaying Thumbnails for .jpg files in Windows 10 File Explorer

    Thanks for your suggestion.

As "recommended for Windows 10", "Photos" is the default app for "Photo viewer" (.jpg isn't really listed as the file extension in the settings).

Do you have another app you would suggest?

By the way, my photos open and display just fine, the issue is the general absence of thumbnails in File Explorer.

Some files listed in Windows Explorer are blue font

I seem to have run out of room on a Windows XP Pro system. I tried to defrag but don't have but 7% room available. I looked in Windows Explorer to try to find some huge files that might be corrupt and I see a few that are listed in blue. What does that mean? I have not compressed anything on purpose. Thanks
