  1. Change music file dates

I have been advised that by changing all the "date created" music files in a folder and sub folders to the same date will help my player play them back in random order more effectively, and it seems to be working. I'm doing it by basically copying the files into a new folder with the same name. It's a bit of a messy, time consuming process because I have quite a few Thumbnail USB drives stacked with music. I was wondering whether downloading a program such as Bulk File Changer would be a quicker way of doing it?

    :)

How2 CHange dates of a file--suggested software not good enough

I used SKTimeStamp to change the dates of a file. However, I noticed it could only change 3 dates:
    Date Created
    Last Modified
    Last Accessed
A search for such a utility often suggests "BulkFileChanger (BFC)" which seems to do the exact same thing: only these 3 dates.
However, if I right click on a file, for example a Word file, there 2 other dates listed:
    Content Created
    Date last Saved

Hence the above two utilities are not good enough. Is there a utility (or way) out there to change all dates including the last 2 mentioned?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Change music file dates

Music folders continually being 'modified' in Windows Explorer

    Hi Oliver,

We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

Have you synced music files with any other devices?

This happens when music files are synced.

You may try to change the sort option in Windows media player and Groove music and check if it helps.

To change the sort settings in Windows media player, follow the below steps.

    • Open Start menu, type Windows media player in search bar, click on Windows media player from search bar results.

    • Click on Organize button on the top left corner of Windows media player.

    • Click on Sort by Date taken.
To change the sort settings in Groove music, follow the below steps.

    • Open Start menu, type Groove music in search bar, click on Groove music from search bar results.

    • Click on Artist from the left navigation pane and sort it by Date added.

    • Change the sort option by Date added for Albums and Songs by following step 2.
You may also change the sort settings according to the date in One drive and Zune.
Now you may try to check if the music files are sorted according to the date.

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.
