Windows 10: Change network configuration when the network card is only used for sharing

Computer 1 has 2 network cards, Card A and Card B. Card A is connected with a cable with Internet connection, Computer 1 is sharing the internet connection through Card B to Computer 2. I also want to use Computer 1 as a smb server. But I found I'm unable to `ping` computer 1 at its address. After some investigation, I found I have to allow file sharing for public network in network - advanced network setting - advanced sharing setting. I tried to set Card B to private network, but since it's not connected to an internet, it doesn't provide the option to change, and goes with the default "publ

Help needed with simple wired network

Step one- Connect all PC's to router, and then the router to the modem. PC's go to router by the ports labeled "1-4" on the back of the router. WAN port goes to router. Power up all network equipment, and then systems.
Step two- Power on the computer connected to port one. Go into router settings at 192.168.0.1 and configure internet, dyndns, firewall, etc.
Step three- Go to "network set up wizard" in windows. (Network places- network set up wizard). The rest is self explanatory.
Step four- right click on each drive and printer you want to share, and then configure sharing preferences. Should be easy enough.
Step five- right click my computer, and the select "map network drive". Using the network address for each piece of hardware you shared, assign network drive letters.

How to change icons of network share folders?

Okay, I may be under-complicating this, but I use shortcuts to my network shares very effectively, to give each shared folder its own distinctive icon. That's what larc919 suggested in #3 above.

I have a folder of Network shortcuts in my Start menu apps list, and each shortcut bears its own badge.
