    Change OneDrive Folder Type online

Hi,My question is pretty simple:I am trying to change a Folder Type from "Pictures" to "Documents" on the OneDrive Website https://onedrive.live.com but it doesn't change, when I click save.It is a custom folder 00_Phone that syncs photos and documents from my Phone. I never bothered about the Type until today, when Windows cleverly misguided me into backing up the Desktop, Pictures and Documents folders on my PC.So before I undo this nicely suggested mess, one of my Folders 00_Phone seemed to disappear on my PC. I then noticed the folder was still there online on the OneDrive webs

    Move the OneDrive Folder

Move the OneDrive Folder in Windows 10

When you set up OneDrive to sync with your computer, a folder C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive will be created to store the contents. XXXX denotes your username. To move this folder to another location follow these simple steps:

    1. Unlink OneDrive from your PC:

    • Go to the taskbar notification area
    • Right-click on the OneDrive icon
    • Select settings
    • Click: Unlink this PC
    2. Delete the C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive folder

    3. Create a new folder (target folder) for OneDrive contents, e.g. D:\OneDrive

    4. Create Directory Junction for the new folder

    • In the search area of the taskbar type CMD and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
    • In the command window type
    mklink /J C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive D:\OneDrive

adjusting it to your specific username and selection of the target folder

    5. Link again OneDrive to your PC using the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area

  3. Rename folder to OneDrive asks Confirm Replacement with another folder

    Hi Kent,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Based on your description, we suggest that you can do it all over again as follows:

    • Open OneDrive settings on your computer.
    • Go to the "Accounts" tab and click on "Unlink this computer".
    • Restart your computer.
    • Delete the D:/OldOneDrive folder.
You can try renaming the old OneDrive folder to something else, then create a new OneDrive folder and set it as a local folder in the OneDrive app.

If the above does not work, then you can try the following steps:

    • Open a "Command Prompt" on your computer (run as administrator).
    • Type rd /s /q "D:\OldOneDrive" and press Enter.
This will delete the "OldOneDrive" folder and all its contents.

    • Create a new folder in D:/ and name its OneDrive.
    • Open the OneDrive application and log in.
    • During the setup process, choose to change the OneDrive folder location to D:/OneDrive.
Please note that this will permanently delete the "OldOneDrive" folder and all its contents, so please ensure that you have backed up all your important data.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely
