Change spacing for stacking multiple folders/windows that are open.

    Hi.

I recently upgraded my win 8.1 pro to win 10 and I have an annoyance.

When I have many (read about 15) Firefox windows (NOT TABS) open they stack vertically (from taskbar). Like this picture is showing (only shows 3 of the windows.):

Change spacing for stacking multiple folders/windows that are open. [IMG]

What I'm trying to do here is remove or lower the spacing between each window. To make the list tighter.

I've found the same true for multiple open folders/drives (explorer windows). It's how things are sorted when they can no longer be thumbnails.

Any help is welcome I've looked a bit for guides and in the register. But with no luck. Any help is appreciated!
    Thank you in advance, .

    :)

  2. stack open windows

    Hi Brad,

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.

Which window you opened, when you say "on a open window, the top right corner, there is the "- . square box, and X" the square box does not work so I cannot not resize the window"?

Follow the below steps and check if you are able to stack the multiple windows.

    1) Open the multiple apps/files/folders in your computer.

    2) Right click on the empty area on the Taskbar and click on
    Show Windows stacked
    .

    3) Now the multiple files/folders/apps will be stacked

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

WINDOWS "STACKED" & WINDOWS "SIDE-BY-SIDE" ISSUE

Windows 10 Task Bar issue in displaying open windows:

Right click Task Bar and choosing "Show windows stacked" works as expected, stacks the open windows.

Choosing "Show windows side by side" produces the same result, i.e. stacks the open windows.

As you may recognize, windows "side by side" is most convenient when dealing with multiple windows with large number of folders.

    Suggestions for a fix appreciated.

Change spacing for stacking multiple folders/windows that are open.

There are several registry values that will be recognized but do not exist by default. All can be created under:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband

    The value names are:

    TextHeightPx
    MinthumbSizePx
    MaxThumbSizePx
    TopMarginPX
    LeftMarginPx
    RightMarginPx
    BottomMarginPx
    ThumbSpacingXPx
    ThumbSpacingYPx
    Numthumbnails

All are DWORDS that represent # of pixels.

The Margin values set to a low value will squash the list but hide some text.

    Try ThumbSpacingYPx set to 1.

You need to sigh out & back in to see the change --- or use task manager to restart Explorer after each edit. So play around & let us know what you find.
