Default communication device on Windows 10

Hello all,

The installation of my wavecyclic audio driver on Win 10 makes it the default communication device. This behavior is observed only on win 10, but not on win 8 or 7. Nothing specific is being done on our installer/driver to set it as default communication device. Any suggestions on why this is happening and on how to not make our driver become default communication device? I appreciate your help.

 

How to change both default device and default communication device through the volume controls on the task bar?

I switch often beween headphones and speakers so after upgrading to windows 10 I found a way to do this w/o constantly plugin/unplugin. I can set some of the devices as 'default device' and then when I want to quickly switch I can left-click on the volume
controls, click the '^' symbol and select the other one.

Works perfect. But there's a problem. It only changes the 'default device' to the other one, not the 'default communication device', leaving sound from skype on the headphones (which is the one assigned as default communication device right now).

Is there a way to make windows 10 not to diferentiate between 'default device' and 'default communication device' and just switch all and every sound to headphones/speakers?

 

Change the way new devices are added to the Devices and Drives list

Hopefully this is in the correct place, but I am sure a mod will move it if it is not so with that being said:

By default, anytime a new devices is added to the system (a phone connected via USB for example) the icon for that device is placed in the first position in the Devices and Drives list under This PC.

This behavior is really annoying because it pushes all the other icons that were already in the list to the next position in the list which totally messes with my muscle memory when navigating within the folder.

A simple fix for this issue is to make it so that any device added to the system is added to the END of the list as is shown in the attached image and the way it was done in previous versions of Windows. This way, all icons stay in their default position in the list and all is well in the universe.

The question of course is how to achieve the desired result either by some registry hack or by changing some hidden menu setting from explorer or some other method entirely.

This is where you fine folks come in with your infinite wisdom to save the day and I thank you for your time and replies in advance.
