    HALOOO!

I have been making a lot of links above the search engine lately.

Now, who doesn't know what that really is, I'll try to explain.

Let's say that you often visit a website, e.g. Twitter, Discord or similar via your internet browser.

Since you visit the websites often, you don't always want to open the internet browser, and always enter the name of the website you visit often in the search bar to get to your desired website. It's annoying and, although it doesn't take 3 years now, useless time goes by.

    So you create a link.

You visit your desired website, copy the link above, press the right button on the desktop, and click "Create shortcut":

A window will open where you can enter the link to the website and what it will be called as a shortcut.

There is a shortcut when you click on it to go to the website immediately without always having to google it.

With you it's like I said, I have many on my PC.

The "problem" now is that the icons of the shortcuts are always the Google logo.

But I want the icon of the website it leads to to be displayed, not the Google logo. That would give me a better overview.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

  2. Frick Win User

    Windows 10 commands/shortcuts/env. var.

    Keyboard shortcuts to open programs:

Create a shortcut on the desktop to whatever program you want. Right click -> Properties and fill in the field there. Sadly the shortcut needs to remain on the desktop, but you can hide it.

Fun fact: If you had keyboard shortcuts for programs pinned to your Windows 7 start menu, those shortcuts still work when you update to Windows 10.

  4. Change the symbol for "Create shortcut"? Windows 10?

Erroneous symbols at the bottom left corner of desktop icons

I'm running Windows 10 with the latest updates. A few days ago, the icons for objects on the desktop changed appearance. The icons are correct but
all have a symbol at the bottom left corner:

    • Shortcuts show the correct shortcut symbol
    • All files erroneously show a shortcut symbol
    • Almost all folders erroneously show a shortcut symbol
    • Some folders erroneously show "X"

The icons for files and folders (including the Desktop folder) displayed using File Explorer are all normal.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.
