Windows 10: Change windows search box size in Windows 10 tool bar.

The "Search the web and windows" is take up a lot of space on my tool bar. See image in attachment to see the box am talking about. I believe there is a way to minimize its size; but I don't know how. Please suggest possible solution towards the situation. Thanks.

Task bar on W10

I've just upgraded to Windows 10 and am generally happy with it. However regarding the task bar, is it possible to reduce the size of the "search the web and Windows" box, as it's too wide.

If I have several things open their boxes on the task bar get squashed up, whereas the search box doesn't reduce in size.

Font size in File Explorer

Hi all,

I have the Windows 10 Pro Creator version. I want to change the font size
in the just the File Explorer windows - not icons, menus, tool bars, or other stuff. It was possible in Windows XP, but like everything MS does, they ripped yet another wonderful tool from our tool box. Typical!

Any ideas? Many thanks.

Right click your taskbar and hover on Search/Cortana and choose one of the three options:

I can't see the Cortana/Search option, the only option that's available is "Search", pls see attachment.

 

It's named 'Search' until you sign in with an MS account and set it up, at which point the moniker changes to 'Cortana';
anyway, you're there, just choose hidden, icon or box.
BTW: you can hide it and still invoke a search by simply clicking the Start button and begin typing.
