Windows 10: changed account type to standard , now access denied

Hi, bought 2nd hand notebook with win 10. Wanted to change settings, "no password login screen" and "change power options". I could change that but the login screen kept coming.

I had the idea that another account was overruling. so I did net user administrator / active:yes. then I saw 2 accounts "admin" and "mine". I could not change type from first one, so i changed mine to standard.

active: no and restarted, login screen still came and ones logged in I could not do any setting everything "ACCESS DENIED" if ask for "you want to make changement ? there is no YES button, run as administrator = access denied.

When I restart I see 2 accounts "DELL" and "mine" no matter what i choose it opens my account. Ones I could change from my microsoft account to local account. i did not need to put password to login but desktop was the same and also denied everything
netplwiz denied put user into administrator group denied ...

What can I do

How to change account type from admin to standard -WIN 10 HOME VERSION

I'd like to convert my dad's local Windows account from administrator to standard user for safer browsing. I created a new administrator account on his laptop but still can't change his account type because in the Change Account Type window the checkbox for standard user is greyed out.

I tried following the suggestion to use Administrator Tools-Computer Management-Local Users and Groups-Users-Administrator-Uncheck "Account is disabled" but on the Home version of Windows 10 the "local users and groups" isn't available.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Kiran,

These changes cannot be made with a standard account. Since you changed the administrator account to a standard one, you will not be able to make any changes that affect other users on the computer.

If there is another administrator account on the computer, we suggest to login using that account and change your account to administrative account.

Follow the steps below on how to change your standard account to administrative account:

1. On the desktop, press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.

2. Click on User Accounts in Large Icons View.

3. Click on Manage another account.

4. Click on the standard account.

5. Click on Change Account Type and select Administrator.

6. Click on Change Account Type button and restart the computer.

After following the steps suggested, I get the message "Access denied" in command prompt.

Please advise how to allow permission.
