Windows 10: Changed letter of windows disk under another windows

Hallo i got troubles.


I have two similar notebooks. placed one ssd with windows to another.

and via diskmgmt.msc changed the letter of another. of main partition where are all data is Dont ask me why :


the problem now i cannot run another windows. tryed everything.


- complettely recovered to the factory settings its restarting allways after choosing the language


- tryed DISKPART via console


- tryed REGISTRY HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices via console


at the consolerecovery its allways X:\




can you please give me advice how to fix this?


Alternatively: What is if i will download a new Home windows edition and install this? Did it will get a same key from internet? Harddrive changed

Change the letter assigned to an external disk?

You can change that but for that you will have to format the disk so make sure to backup any data you have on that drive.

Connect the disk to your PC and follow these instructions.

Start Disk management by right click on windows start button or using "win+x" on keyboard and selecting "Disk Management"

1. In disk management you will see external disk under "DISK 0" and "CD ROM" at the bottom left corner.
2. Here, you will right click on the partition (blue line partiton)
3. Select "Change Drive letter and paths".
4. Select "Change"
5. Assign any Letter from the drop down list
6. Click ok.

ITS DONE!!!!

Disconnect and reconnect to check.

Windows 10 changing USB port drive letters

I would like to inform you that the issue might have occurred due to some changes made to your computer.

I suggest you to try changing the drive letter of the drive and check if it helps.

Follow the steps to change the drive letter:

• Press Windows + X keys and click on Disk Management.
• Right click on the external drive and click on Change Drive letter and paths.
• Click on Change the button.
• Under Assign the following Drive letter, select the desired drive letter.
• Click Ok to save changes.

Disk Number changed and Can not format

  Right click on the Start Menu.

  Select Disk Management.
  
• 
  Right-click on the drive letter you want to change and click
  Change Drive Letter and Paths.
  
• 
  Click Change...
  
• 
  Use the drop down to the right of Assign the following drive letter: to select a new drive letter.
  
• 
  Click OK.
  

Try formatting the disk again.
