changed my CPU hardware and now it wont let me reactivate windows

My CPU recently overheated and fried due to a manufacturer defect and upon getting a new cpu and booting my computer up I have found that I am stuck being unable to activate windows again. Using my product key and my backup product key doesnt work and results in an activation error. My product key was originally for windows 8.1 but I have used it for so long that I received free upgrades to 10 and 11 but never updated to 11. I have proof of windows key ownership on my PC registry where it shows my backup product key except it doesnt work. I am not purchasing another copy of windows as I should

    :)

reactivating windows after changing the pc's CPU

I am having difficulty in reactivating windows after changing the pc's CPU

Prior to the change, I linked my digital licence to my MS Account

In my MSA I can see both versions of my PC listed, once with the old CPU and once with the new CPU

If I go to activation - troubleshoot- I changed hardware on this device recently, I can only select the old PC on which to activate windows

    Any help or ideas appreciated
