Windows 10: Changed user folder name on clean install

    Hi

    Has anyone else had the clean option, drop the last character of their user folder during the install?

    Example, my user folder was called Julian on 8.1 Therefore c:\Users\Julian\Desktop blah blah blah.... Well now its c:\users\julia\xxxxxxx

    Somewhat annoying... Enough so for me to do a reformat and complete wipe and clean install.

    HOWEVER now my Microsoft account must of caught wind of this new path and my new clean install is still Julia *Mad

    I'm about to reformat again.... perhaps try a local account first, then merge it my Microsoft account... Unless someone else has any suggestions.

    Has this happened to anyone else?

    How do I change my username?

    I just completed a clean install of Windows 10 because my previous Windows 10 installation got corrupted. The user folder was previously C:\Users\Dan but after the re-install the user folder is C:\Users\wegma

    I'd like to rename it to \Dan

    I followed your instructions but saw no change in the folder name.

    1. Should I expect it to change after a reboot, or?

    2. Is there a different technique I can use?

    Rename User Folder

    I have a clean install of Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. My problem is that Windows did not give me the option upon installing Windows (as in previous versions) to provide a user name. In windows explorer the user name folder is ssmif. How do I change that to a
    name I want. It seems Microsoft left that option out, go figure.

    Changed user folder name on clean install

    I just reformatted, signed in as a local user, using my name, which then created the correct path, then merged it in with my Microsoft account.. So all set.
