Windows 10: Changing a home pc to a work pc

My organization is a school and it has a Microsoft 365 account. In the school where I work, all of the computers have Windows 10.


Some computers allow users to sign in with their Microsoft work account, and if I wanted to add or remove them myself I would go to Settings->Accounts->Other users->Add a work or school account user. And this is the way I want all the pc's to be. It is better than adding or removing local accounts to each pc.

But other computers in the school don't do this. It's as if they were on a different mode or something like that. You sign in through a local account. If I wanted to add or remove users the options are a little bit different. I would have to go to: Settings->Accounts->Family & other users. And here I would have different options: Add a family member, Add someone else to this PC. And whenever I try to add a user with a work email, it doesn't let me, it says that the email doesn't exist.


So my questions are, why are these pc's different? More importantly, how can I make the latter ones the same as the former?

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??

We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

• Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
• Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
• Reboot your PC.
• Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.

PC Build Steps

1.1 - Ideally put optical in SATA 0, and SSD in SATA 1, this will cause the optical drive to be the default 1st boot option. You can change it manually if not, but I like it this way
2.infinity - yes, that's fine. if it's above 70 +/- 5 degrees, then it may just need a repaste/remount
