    ALright. So I have been trying for 14 hours now to fix this problem, and am more than frustrated with how microsoft support is run. just the other day, I had some bank issues, and made a few phonecalls and got everything sorted it. it was stressful, and a bit time consuming, but it was efficient. microsoft, apparently, cant even be CALLED. my dad works very high up in this company, and so I always had respect for it, but can your customer support seriously not just speak human words to someone in need?


    anyway, with that said, here is my issue:


    I set up a new laptop 24 hours ago. I set it up with my microsoft account, and the laptop asked for a PIN, so I gave it one. I know what my PIN is, because it asked me to put in in twice, so there is practically no way I could be wrong. here is the problem. I tried typing it in, again and again, and supposedly the PIN is incorrect now, even though I literally used it to log into my laptop all day yesterday. I tried to reset my PIN and it asked for my phone number so it could TEXT IT TO ME.


    thats problem number two. the phone number I set the account up with was my home phone number from years earlier. Its still there, just, you know at home. but IT DOESN"T TAKE TEXTS ONLY CALLS. so like, it is physically impossible for me to get a code to reset my PIN. I set it up when microsoft would still send codes through calls, and I have no IDEA WHY THEY STOPPED DOING THAT, it makes ZERO SENSE.


    So I decide to add my new cell phone number to my account keep in mind, my cell phone, is already listed as one of the devices under my microsoft account, so I dont know why I have to add the number again? unfortunatley for me however, I ran into problem number three. apparantly, microsoft has to take a whole 30 DAYS in order to add the new phone number to my account.


    Now listen, Microsoft. I've been in the family for a while. my father is currently a major share holder, and so Ive never tried to judge too much. but I

    am. a. college. student. and I cannot. wait. 30 days. to do. my schoolwork.


    This whole situation has now messed up my account, and I can't do anything about it for 30 days. is their a way customer support can smooth this over for me, I need my laptop by tomorrow, and If I can't I will most likely fail all my classes.


    Please, Help.

    Blocking Cell Phone Numbers

    Here's one way to get around the problem. It's kludgy but it should work.

    Get a VOIP based phone service or a magic jack. For 24/7 access, you're better off with VOIP that uses an ethernet adapter, but that's up to the user.

    The important point is to find one that lets you create your own "black list" of callers. Usually they will have both black and white list options and these are usually a subcategory under the "do not disturb" or similar feature.

    The provider will usually let you create a second number for $5-10 per month. You'll use this for your cell phone number. If it is ever compromised, you can change it easily without affecting the base number.

    Forward the second number to your cell phone and give everyone that one as your "cell phone" number. There will be a delay of a few seconds as calls get routed, but who cares. It's not like any of us is on Obama's speed dial right?

    Now when you get assholes calling you, just add them to the black list.

    You can also block calls w/o caller id this way if your cell phone co. doesn't already do that for you.

    Supported phones for Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview


    Your list confirms my phone is eligible, Lumia 521. The windows Insider App fails after ~ 15 seconds, restores data and gives me error 80073cf9. I trouble shot this and went thru all the steps mentioned on several websites including MS without any luck. Short of a hard reset, this is where I am now. Suggestions appreciated.
