Windows 10: Changing administrator password without knowing the password.

I have an account on my pc that i never use. It was created by Microsoft when i got the pc. However, it was an administrator account for a while until i took it off as it always caused trouble. right now, im trying to access an app but windows keeps asking for the administrator password using this account. I dont know why becasue i had removed it but here it is. Guessing the password isnt an option. Nothing online helps, the directions have options i dont. Theres no "reset password" link at the sign in. Online chat help was useless. Resetting the account in a web browser doesnt reset the admin

There are several ways to reset the password. If you know the current password it is very simple.

• Open settings.
• Accounts
• Sign-in options.
• Under Password, select the Change button and follow the steps.

If you do not know the password and are not logged into your PC, you will need to reset your PC.

If you are logged into your PC and do not know the password, follow the steps:

Met. 1:

• Right-click on "This PC".
• Click Manage.
• Expand to Local Users and Groups -> Users in the left pane.
• Click on Users.
• Right-Click on your user in the middle-pane and select "set password"

WARNING: You will lose your data (images, documents, etc.)

Met. 2:

• Press WIN+R.
• Type "netplwiz".
• In the User Accounts window, highlight a user account you would like to change password for, and then click the Reset Password button.
• Enter the new password for your user account, and then click OK.

Lost My Administrator Password

To which "this" are you referring?
- If you are following the tutorial Bree suggested in the very first reply to your question then what you need to do at each step is explained in detail. So which step are you at?
- If you are following a different procedure then state what it is and which step you are at. If, for example, you are trying to manually enable the Built-In Admin as suggested in post #11 then that account has no password.
