If password set for local user account you can use Hiren’s BootCD to reset the user account password.
Download | Hiren's BootCD PE

• Boot your computer with Hiren’s BootCD PE.
• Goto Start Menu -> Securiy -> Passwords -> NT Password Edit
• Open your SAM file (It is usually located in C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM).
• Click your username and the click ‘Change password’. To set a password, type your password both ‘New password’ and ‘Verify’ fields and then click to ‘OK’. To remove the password, leave both ‘New password’ and ‘Verify’ fields blank and then click to ‘OK’.

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.

Good, because a day ago I was stuck after setting to boot safe mode minimal at the login prompt and the login kept demanding a password. To fix I actually had to do a fresh install wiping the drive. I had set to safe mode minimal to change from IDE driver to AHCI driver. I redid my clone TWICE and it happened both times the password demand after setting safemode minimal, and I could find no way forward then to continue with my clone copy to a new SSD.

So I made sure AHCI was set in the bios before the new install. Caused me a lot more trouble that it should have trying to switch to AHCI. Which caused several days of anguish and wondering why. Took about 3 days to get something working again, yesterday got up at 3AM as I had some trouble sleeping over it, and of course cloning takes hours. A new install was fairly quick
