Changing motherboard of a prebuilt pc and regarding windows 10 in it

Hi,So I have bought a gaming prebuilt pc with windows 10 preinstalled already. Also contains m.2 ssd and HDD. Checked that it is OEM_DM channel from command prompt. The windows 10 itself is installed on to the m.2 ssd 256 gb. My question is that I am planning to upgrade the prebuilt motherboard rebranded mATX ROG STRIX"https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185289490145?var=0&&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&siteid=3&campid=5338744155&customid=jkp_Cj0KCQiA3-yQBhD3ARIsAHuHT66b8J68HavGvx9WGoxbVjMMBQq0AIlyGNRwUGst6hEbEsZeiGEEHoUaAnRlEALw_wcB&toolid=10001&mkevt=1&gclid=Cj

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. Activate Windows 10 after motherboard change

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I built the PC myself and it is\was a retail Windows 8 Pro license upgraded to 10.

The guide listed that I should be able to transfer the license, and following the steps given when selecting "I recently changed hardware" in the activation process it does not list my previous device to select from.

My Microsoft account is logged in on both my old and new motherboard, and my old motherboard is unable to boot at all to deactivate or retrieve any keys.

If my license is indeed available for transfer, how can I proceed from here?

    Thanks.

Windows 10 License (after motherboard change)

    Hi Harsh,

Please be informed that your copy of Windows 10 should get activated automatically after changing the motherboard (once you enter the linked Microsoft Account details). But if you face any issues,
I suggest you to go through Phone activation to activate your Windows 10 copy.

To run Phone activation please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows + R key.

    • Type slui 4 and hit enter.

    • Select the Country or
      Region.

    • Follow the on screen instructions.

Hope this helps. Please respond if you have any further related query.

    Thank you.
