Windows 10: Changing over to Win 10

Discus and support Changing over to Win 10 in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; Windows 8 came out "early" for $40 -- which is what I paid for it. If Win10 is the same, that's not a bad deal. Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by meebers, Dec 10, 2014.

Okay well yep that is what we're talking about *Smile
That was what 8 was worth but not covering up 7 with *Tongue
Thankfully there was Shawn to get around that little upgrade quirk as long as there was an actual activation key *Wink

As to cost it really means nothing to me. If you think that it will scratch your wallet then maybe now is the time to start putting away say a 20 spot each month until the release of win 10, thus you will have at least enough to buy one copy maybe two. . .who knows maybe even three or four. . .*Smile

  7. Actually win-8 was free for me but no costs aren't an issue but 8 wasn't worth a penny,
Start8 cost 5 bucks so that's about all the costs associated with 8-8.1,

So as an upgrade from 8.1 to 10 be it free or 14.99 ... but if nothing changes as far as graphic's options I might skip 10 all together ?
Too early to say for sure as long as it's cheap my priorities are in graphic's and business which are satisfied with 7 so there really has to be worth and benefit in an upgrade,
    Cheers.

    Changing over to Win 10

Well after a few months i do not favor Win 10 over Win 8.1.

If tomorrow i have to go back to Win8.1, i would not mind at all.

    Hi there

What you *could* do is always load the free 180 day trials from the ms site -- provided you don't mind re-installing everything again every 6 months or so.

My feel is that initially there will be a decent introductory offer - especially for Windows 7 / VISTA (and there might even be a sweetener for the not unconsiderable number of XP users too). If that's the case I'll re-load my W7 and upgrade from there.

An upgrade from W8.1 might also be in the offing -- but what the future of W8.1 is I can only guess. I suspect Ms wants to be rid of it as soon as possible.

New users probably will pay whatever the "current market rate" is at that time -- pity I can't buy in Roubles at the moment !!!!!!

    he Jimbo,

i will definitly look into it, since i feel that Windows right now is not improving at all....

Sure the Metro is gone, but mixing this with the desktop start menu??????

Yes, Russia is in trouble, not only the Rouble is only worth 50% of its initial value, but a barrel of oil costs only around $60 or even less.

And Russia has to make a lot of money of there oil export.

  11. Oil prices is Russia's biggest problem for sure,
As fast as it goes down in price it usually doesn't last long *Wink

You can remove the tiles on the menu altogether, making it more like a classic menu.

I really like your idea and will start doing this from January. By the time 10 is released I'll hopefully have enough.

We were talking about "maybe" Microsoft giving a big break to Windows Insiders . . . I found this this morning and thought y'all would be interested.

Microsoft: We have more than 1.5 million Windows 10 'Insiders' | ZDNet

The last paragraph of this article says:

<<Microsoft also is expected to show off at that event its Windows 10 mobile preview, which is expected to run on Intel- and ARM-based tablets, as well as Windows Phones. Microsoft's OSG is hustling to make the mobile preview available to testers by January 21 or shortly thereafter, sources say.>>

Folks, ARM equates to our Android tablets! I would love to be able to test Windows 10 on my tablet . . .
