    I want to change my Microsoft account password and have been given a code to do so. However, when I go to sign in options in settings, I am repeatedly told something went wrong and to try again later. Later never comes, of course

    Changing Microsoft Account Password

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    I want to change my Microsoft Account Password. The Account is ***Email address removed for privacy***

    This account was created by my son and he forgot the password.

    Now I am not able to open my Laptop, as I don't have the password. Most of my important data is in that system.

    I tried requesting for resetting the password. But every time i am getting the below message.

    We recently received a request to recover your Microsoft account ***Email address removed for privacy***. Unfortunately, our automated
    system has determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership. Microsoft takes the security and privacy of our customers very seriously, and our commitment
    to protecting your personal information requires that we take the utmost care in ensuring that you are the account owner.

    For the recovery of password, i have given the information whatever my Son has told me.

    Please kind request to solve my ISSUE at the earliest, so that I can start using my system.

    Thank you, Shawn. Option 7 worked for me. Speaking as a non tech person, Microsoft seems to make their processes incredibly convoluted. The change codes they gave me yesterday and again after I followed your procedure failed. The third code finally worked.
