  1. Changing some BIOS settings causes BSOD on reboot in Windows 11

Hello!I'm having a problem that I can't fix on my own. Ever since I've upgraded to Win 11 from Win 10 last year, some of my BIOS settings have become marked with the * symbol like CPU and memory frequency and voltage. The impression is that those settings the way they were at the time of install are the only one recognised by the OS. Any attempt to change those settings results in BSOD on reboot, usually with the message MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION. Long story short: when I've upgraded, the system was already overclocked. Now I'm trying to change the CPU voltage from "Auto" to 1.30 V, more th

  2. Sound card amplification settings

Yeah unfortunately ASUS and Realtek are not stepping up and fixing this it seems. Wherever I see such problems mentioned on forums some users are suggesting just uninstalling the Realtek driver and using the Windows audio driver.

  3. access BIOS settings in Win 10

I have an 8-year old computer running Win 10. I need to access the BIOS settings. It used to be the holding down the F2 key during startup would bring up the BIOS screen in Windows computers. But this no longer works. A web article listed a complicated
series of steps leading to a reboot . . . but still no access to BIOS. Any suggestions?

Changing some BIOS settings causes BSOD on reboot in Windows 11

    What causes a BSOD?

    In my experience its:
    - Unstable OC
    - Bad RAM
    - Bad Driver/ Driver conflict
    - Dodgy Windows Update
    - Wrong BIOS Settings
    - Failing HDD
    - Hardware conflict / BIOS conflict (I have had this!)

Other than one windows update, Vista has been rock stable for me, I could never get XP like this.
Have you got a problem with something then? Or is it just a general Q?

From what I've seen, an insufficient PSU will cause a reboot or hard lockup. A BSOD is a software reboot. Though in fairness, any of the HW things I mentioned above can cause hard lockUps at their extreme.
