Windows 10: Changing Win 10 Pro Startup & Wake Sound

I've tried everything and scoured the web for a way to turn off or even change that "ding ding ding ding sound that I absolutely can not stand. Its horrible to me.

I turned off fast-boot, changed the actual startup sound to a old win95 sound byte wav file.

Nothing works. Anyone know how to do this?

Win 10 Pro - can't turn off the Startup Sound

Yes, unchecking the box to "Play Windows Startup sound" works for Win 10 Home but has no effect on Win 10 Pro. Have gone back and forth with this, rebooting of course, and the startup sound always plays. Whether box is checked or not, the sound always plays.

 

How do I change the startup sound in Win 10

In Windows 10, the actual startup sound is built-in and can't be changed. However, as a workaround, you can uncheck Play Windows Startup sound on
the Sounds tab, and change the sound for the Windows Logon event in the list.

If you cannot find windows logon in the list, a registry edit should do this.

Reply back if you are willing to do so.

If so, I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Make sure that your device speakers are working fine before performing the troubleshooting steps.

  Right click on the Volume icon on the Task bar.

  Select Sounds option from the list.

  Select Sounds tab.
  
• 
  Check mark on Play Windows Startup sound option.
  
• 
  Under Program Events: click on any option and under Sounds: select Windows Startup from the list.

  Click on Browser button and select a
  Sound.

  Try to restart the computer and check if it helps.
