  1. Changing Window Borders and Title Bar WITHOUT messing up anything ELSE

    Windows 10 Pro is on. And, of course, it's truly UGLY. MS may think this grotesque white-on-white scheme is cute, but it's glaring and unproductive.....

    I've made my display background 50% gray for all the displays. I've fixed the start and taskbar colors using Classic Shell. All that works fine.

    I've tried the aero theme. I've done my OWN high contrast theme. The aero theme gives me a blue title bar, but it DOESN'T change when a window is inactive. And when I put MY gray background on the displays it goes BACK to the gross white if I let W 10 pick an accent. I can force it back to blue, but again, it doesn't change between active and inactive windows, so although it's not quite as ugly, it's no more productive.

    My own theme lets me change variety of things 'cause I can edit the theme file, which I did. Unfortunately, it has a couple side effects, like causing the bookmarks list in Firefox to display as black on black, which makes them unusable...

    I TRIED, adding the background and title bar colors the same way they're in my high contrast theme, to the aero theme, but they don't get used...

    What I'm LOOKING FOR is a theme that lets me set borders, title bar, and such for active AND inactive windows WITHOUT screwing up the desktop (neutral gray), taskbar, or start menu. Being able to set window background color would be nice, but I can live with the glaringly grotesque, blinding white windows if I have to.

    So, HOW do I get something like the aero theme (or the aerolite theme, which I've also tried) to let me do things like:
    ActiveTitle=64 64 64 ;title bar of active window
    Background=127 127 127 ;desktop color
    InactiveTitle=192 192 192

    WITHOUT messing anything else up.

    :)

    Windows 10 how to get rid of thick colored borders!!!

    hi, thanks for this but this didn't seem to work. My title bar on chrome is still blue and so are the borders, the borders on chrome are fine but the borders on every thing else e.g settings still has thick blue borders. Is there anything else that'll
    work? thanks

    Please allow videos (all file formats) to be used as personalized desktop backgrounds

    What would be better is to allow the window of any application to appear as the desktop background. Without menus, title bars, window borders or status bars appearing.

  5. I will definitely check out that link, Bobby, and thank you for posting it.

    Meanwhile, Win10 Borders & Title Bars are messed up on my machine. They are inordinately high, consuming a lot of space, and I've tried a variety of adjustments to no avail. WinAero that you recommended in another thread for another problem, for instance, works fine, but is only temporary. After a reboot, borders and title bars go back to super-large.

    I'd show you how it looks in MS Office, but this configuration jazz has been going on for at least 30 mins.

    I sure hope you can resolve this for me, and thanks once again for being a good resource.

  6. Your title bar settings may be messed up. Check to see what they are set at. Right click on desktop, select Display settings, Advanced display settings, Advanced sizing of text and other items, and see what the title bars are set at. Mine are 11 which is not the default. I think 10 is default, but I like it a bit bigger.

  7. One thing to add if that doesn't work you can try sfc /scannow. Maybe a system font got corrupt, and running that will fix it. Make sure the default theme is applied. Open a command prompt with Admin rights, and then just type in "sfc /scannow". It will start the process, and give you results in about 20 min. If it found corrupt files it will fix them, or attempt to, and if it says it couldn't fix all you can reboot (reboot anyway after it completes), and then you can run it again. If it fixed them just reboot, and see if it fixed the size.

  10. You're welcome. That's where the issue is on the settings page. The check for bold is causing it to be so big. Hopefully the sfc will fix it. You may have an ease of access setting enabled somewhere to have that greyed out like that. I'll check around my settings to see if something matches it.

  11. I didn't ask what your default resolution is set at. Maybe that also has something to do with it. Check these places to see if they are on defaults.

    Reboot done. All came back. No changes evident.

    Here's the NVidia report on resolution.

  14. What does your setting here say? Is it also at "(Recommended)"? If not change it to that, and sign off/reboot.

    Hmmm...which reading should I believe? NVidia's in the previous post, or the one on the left immediately above, or the one on the right that says I'm lower than 1680 x 1260?
