    Character keys not working on Windows 10 Laptop not a mechanical key problem


    I have set up password for accessing my laptop since long time, and today, as I turned it on, it asked for password, but alphanumeric characters, pecial symbols and space keys don't seem to work.

    Everything else, like Caps Lock and Enter key are working. But the alphanumerics, special symbols and space aren't working. Everything was fine till last night, also I can assure that there has been no physical effect on the laptop, so the problem is with the software, hence Windows10.

    There is no mechanical problem.

    Now that I have finally upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 will my Windows 8 key work with a fresh install of Windows 10?

    Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

    Google and download the "Windows 10 media creation tool"

    Create a USB flash drive ISO and that's all you need...it will work without needing a key..
    Just skip past entering a key during full install and delete all partitions, format, create new drive and install...

    As long as you have upgraded from Windows 8 first...you need to do that prior to using your Windows 8 key for 10.
