Windows 10: Charger is Plugged in but not charging.

I bought this laptop Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 15" this year 15 Aug 2022. I updated the laptop as soon as Windows 11 new update came. But after updating for first few days heavy battery drain was noticed. Today a new problem arised, laptop was plugged in but the battery percentage was stuck at 55%. I tried solving the issue by watching some youtube videos. Surprisingly the problem was solved for a few minutes, after that percentage was stuck at 58%. Please help me because my college will be starting very soon.

Plugged in, not charging


There are 3 points of failure for a laptop that does not charge (And has been determined to be a hardware problem and NOT a software/OS problem). OS problems can be tested as mentioned above.

• Dying battery (end of recharge cycle limit) as DustSailor and bro67 have mentioned.
• Defective/dead charger/power supply
• Broken DC In port (very common)

Sometimes in the case of a broken DC In port you can wiggle the power jack in the port and see it starts to charge and then goes back to "Plugged In Not Charging" when you let go. But not always.

Sometimes with the Charger/Power Supply it is only the jack that is defective.

First order of business is to borrow a Charger/Power Supply (be sure it has the same voltage IN as yours) and test it to see if it will charge the battery.

The rest is replacing parts until you get to the offending one.
The Charger/Power Supply is cheapest to replace first.
Then the Battery
Then to the shop to see if the DC In port can/should be replaced.

 

CHARGER PLUGGED IN BUT NOT CHARGING

When i plug in my charger to my laptop ,it indicates that the charger is plugged in but not charging. Please help

 

Laptop charging icon shows charging even when my charger is not plugged in

Hi, thank you for your suggestion. I followed all the steps mentioned by you. The issue stopped temporarily. The issue started again today. The moment I switched the laptop on, the charging icon was showing that the laptop is charging even though the charger
was not plugged in. The charging light was also on. I had to plug in the charger and switch it on and off to stop this automatic charging.

Is there any other way to solve this issue? Also, is there a chance that there is bug in the latest update?

I am worried that my laptop battery will get spoiled.
