Windows 10: Check Disk Boot Looping

    Check Disk Boot Looping


    I have an 5 year old laptop that's been in a box for about a year. I got it up and running a few weeks ago. I've been doing periodic windows updates since then trying to catch up the system. It asked to do an update 2 days ago and I let it run and restart. I turned off the computer after it completed.


    I turned on the computer yesterday and it seem to freeze at the initial boot up screen. It was not loading windows as far as I could tell. I gave it about 10 minutes without it doing or saying anything and then I hard shut down the laptop. When I turned it back on it started running Check Disk.


    It is getting to "Fixing C: Stage 2" in Check Disk and after getting through some of the files, reboots the computer and starts the process over again. When I try to stop check disk at start up, it leads me to a screen that says there is an error and it needs to reboot with a tag "BAD SYSTEM CONFIG INFO"


    It seems to be caught in this loop. I would really like to try and restore it to before the previous update but I don't know how. Is there a way to do this from the initial boot up screen before windows loads Check Disk?
