Windows 10: Check for new drivers for Win10 on your motherboard site.

I just checked the asus site last evening and for some reason; there are no windows 10 motherboard updates yet for my system board; but i think i will call asus and see what the deal is and when they intend on releasing updates for windows 10.

 

I don't think there is much hope for me my board didn't even get 8/8.1 drivers... SO I don't plan on seeing a 10 driver... I don't seem to have any problems on my clean installed preview, and perhaps when I upgrade the 7 partition it will keep its chipset drivers?

 

Well I had a online chat with a rep from Asus this morning in regard to drivers for windows 10 for my
mb and they said since it's a older mb they wouldn't have any drivers for it which seems kinda odd. They said they have already released all the drivers for windows 10. But for me so far it seems like everything on my system is working so I dunno if I will really need them because windows 10 has already set up all my devices etc. my mb btw is the Asus p8p67 Evo and is from about 3 years ago.

 

I have 10 running on an old ASUS M2N68-AM SE2. It was an upgrade from Windows 7. Everything works. ASUS doesn't list any Windows 8 drivers for it let alone Windows 10 drivers. Same deal for my M4N68T-M V2 that I'm running 8.1 Pro on. Windows 7 drivers only, listed for download. No new Windows 10 drivers listed for my ASUS K75DE laptop either. It's also running Windows 8.1 Pro. I'm not expecting any issues when I upgrade to 10 tomorrow. I can easily go back to 8.1 if need be anyway.

 

I dont expect to have any issues tomorrow either but then again ya just never know with computers sometimes. Sometimes these things will throw a curve ball at ya when ya least expect it lol *Wink

 

Is something like SlimDrivers a viable option?

 

If there are Windows 10 drivers for the motherboard(Intel INF, SATA, LAN, Audio) on the manufacturer's site, is it best to use those or let Windows Update install whatever drivers it has?

 

Install a free tool like Driver Booster to keep your drivers updated. Running on Windows 10, It does a great job and gives option to keep backup of the downloaded drivers as well. There are giveaway Keys on the net for using it as pro legally.

 

I thought that W10 was going to update drivers automatically for our hardware...

 

It most probably will but most of the time drivers are pretty bare, without control programs. HW manufacturers supply MS with drivers for their devices and MS has to check them and eventually certify them. All that may take time so getting drivers from it's manufacturer may get you newer ones.
Chasing newest drivers may not be a very best idea unless there is something of great importance in them. GPU manufacturers very often make changes to their drivers just to fix problems with some of the games etc.
Those programs for finding newest drivers are also known to make mistakes and get you a wrong driver and not neccesserly newest or best ones.
MS is getting pretty good at collecting drivers as of lately, so as I said before, unless something is obviously wrong and everything works as it should there's no actual reason to chase newer ones. It happened many times when older drivers were better than newest ones.

 

I can't install "realtek v7565"...

Now my audio sounds like it's coming from a box since my "Sound Effects" tab is missing. Windows won't update to this.

 

Mine doesn't have Win10 drivers, but 8.1 ones work fine so all fine! *Smile

 

Just did a clean install of Windows 10 Enterprise on my ASUS K75DE Laptop. AMD CCC was installed automatically on first boot up, switchable graphics working now without a hitch. The ASUS Smart Gesture installed automatically too, so I have my two finger scroll etc. Everything is working with the default drivers. Plugged in my external USB 3 monitor and display link installed automatically. 1 reboot latter and I have my dual monitors. I didn't have to install any drivers manually. *Cool

 

Msi had nothing for me and my msi z77a-g45 i had to reach out to realtek and intel for mine all works great *Smile
