Checking Wireless Network Speed- Herculian Task!

Gone are the days when we could simply right click a connected wifi network and check the 'SPEED' of the network in mbps. For eg:-

...or simply goto Task manager and check the speed like:-

Is there a simple method to check network speed which i am missing? guys? pls help!

    Regards

    WIFI issues on PCIe adapter

Agree with Michelle Vil. There are many factors that can influence your wifi signal. I suggest to perform wireless speed test, use NetSpot app

    https://www.netspotapp.com/wireless-network-speed.html
. It will measure wireless network speed by sending queries to random servers and calculating the time it takes for them to be sent and received. Then you will be able to view heatmap visualizations
of your survey area for upload, download and wireless transmit speed.

    Yep,

Go to control panel -> network and sharing center -> Click your network to bring up the connection status:

What you have listed is the max speed of the your network. In the first case it is a wireless G router. In the second it is the max speed of the Ethernet controller in your computer. The easiest way to check the network speed is using a site like speedtest.net. But remember that the actual throughput is 10% of what is stated. A 20 Mbs speed is really a download of 2Mbs. It's the external speed (connection) that is almost always the limiting factor.

What do you mean gone are the days. The Network info is still in the same place where it was, since Microsoft started to use the Network Sharing under Control Panel. Also you can go into Control Panel and get to the adapter that way.

There really is no need to check connection speed, unless you are having issues with signal dropping all of the time, because of interference or channel congestion.

Thanks theveterans. I knew that one *Tongue. Was looking for a simpler method. A right click here and a left click there. Done! lol. never mind. I right clicked the network connection and created a shortcut on the desktop. it right away brings the status of my network connection *Smile

    Yay! Yipee!!! *Party

I know that John. But we are on another issue. Thanks anyways.
