Windows 10: Chinese Laptop - Cannot change language settings.

I wondered if anyone had any experience of this: recently purchased a laptop in China. The laptop is running Windows 10 Pro 64bit and was already setup by the online store so was displaying Chinese language on the system.

Despite downloading the language pack for English UK and such, it doesn't appear to be possible to swap the system/display language over from Chinese at all.

Additionally, this is not the single language edition of Windows 10, so should always be able to be changed I believe.

I managed to delete English on another windows PC and set the display language to Chinese and swap it back without any trouble at all following the same steps.

Again, does anyone have experience of this or suggestions on how to remedy this?

TL;DR - chinese display language cannot be changed to english - windows 10 PRO 64bit.

Can't change primary language on Chinese laptop

I understand the inconvenience as you are unable to change the language setting on your laptop, we will help you to resolve this issue.

Please follow some of the below troubleshooting steps and check:

Step 1: It seems that Chinese language is set as primary language, the options are grayed out.

Select the English Language in "Add a language" Window in
Control Panel, and select Move up.

The first language in "Add a language" window in Control Panel
is your primary language.

Step 2:

I suggest you to install Language Pack and check if it helps:

Language packs

Also, refer to Language Control Panel to change the system language.

I would suggest you, try removing Chinese language pack and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps.

• 
  Type Language in the search area on the taskbar and select
  Language.
  
• 
  Select the Chinese language and click on
  Move down (if it is on the top).
  
• 
  Click on Remove Option.
