    Hi, My hp pavillion laptop with windows 10 had suddenly frozen. When I restarted, it again freezes randomly after sign-in windows. System restore did not resolve this issue. Reinstall windows 10 with "keeping all personal files" also did not resolve this issue.sfc / scannow did not resolve this issue.So I tried chkdsk C: /r. It is running now for more than 36 hours!. Is it normal?Cursor is moving. Occational LED lighting indication of hard drive activity. How long will it take to complete? it has 500 GB hard drive with ~200 GB free spaceCan I stop chkdsk? How?Please advise for troubleshooti

    Extremely long and incomplete boot

    This may be a long shot. My PC hung at boot yesterday after typing the password - see Can't Login - Further Troubleshooting Steps?

    I ran chkdsk c: /spotfix and all is now fine. Someone has also suggested running chkdsk c: /r.

    i'd suggest grabbing a few beers and a movie. it could take several hours.

    How do I stop chkdsk /f /r with a broken screen?

    Hello,

    I tried to run system restore and it failed. Was told to run chkdsk /r which i did. However, my laptop had a broken screen and i can’t see what was going on as the external monitor is totally blank. It had been a few hours and i would like to stop the chkdsk
    /f /r. What should i do?
