Windows 10: CHKDSK Deleted directory folder - Drive still has data

Hi all,

Interesting situation:

A drive I was working on yesterday suddenly stopped working.
I had a master folder with all of the files on the drive, inside stupid, I know, but hind-sight, all that, which magically became inaccessible today:



I haven't updated since, and my last update was 10+ days ago, so I can't roll back awful feature.
I ran CHKDSK, which found an error, presumably with the root folder, and... yup... DELETED TO FOLDER...




By all appearances: the data is still on the drive:









So it looks as though Windows just sealed off the door to the storage room...
I've never come across this before, and have found no help online that doesn't come from some forum plugging the website's own product...

If possible; I'd love to get this resolved without use of a 3rd party program...

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

First of all nice utility, Mindweaver!
Second of all, it's so nice to see that this section ain't dead.

I have a few questions/suggestions, maybe you'd want to see ...

• maybe you rename Get Folder button caption to something more intuitive? Add Folder, Get Folder Size, Check Folder Size or something like that?
  
• Could you add subfolder files to the right pane? (it can be a tickbox with include sub dirs)
  
• maybe you also add export list to excel?
  
• there's delete file button maybe you add delete folder button too?
  
• and finally maybe you can add UP button for directories?

Thanks buddy! Yea, this section's not dead. Kreij and I have big plans for this section. I don't want to give nothing away, but we have some bigger projects down the road. *Toast :toast: I feel I'm pretty good at coding with different languages, but I'm well behind Kreij's level of experience with those other Languages. I've been working on those other languages, and soon I'll feel comfortable enough to start, and not feel like I'm holding the project back. *Toast :toast:

Now on to your suggestions.

By subfolders you mean add all the folders in the left panel to the right panel? Those folders are all the subfolders in the "Get folder".

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


Suggestion:

1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
   x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
   NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.
