Windows 10: Choppy sound after windows 10 update

After updating windows 10 today, when using Bluetooth headphones, the sound is choppy and almost incomprehensible. This was not a problem until now.


I have tried suggestions from the community such as disconnecting and reconnecting the drivers, and I have used different headphones, so the problem is with the Bluetooth connection.

Since Windows 10 I can no longer watch videos, stream content or play games without the sound being choppy/stuttering. I tried updating the sound and display drivers, both say they are current.

Sound problems can be caused by cables that aren't connected properly, damaged drivers, incompatible drivers, sound settings, missing updates, and problems with your sound card.

I request you to follow the below steps:

Step 1: Uninstall the Sound card Drivers

• Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.
• Click on “Device Manager” from that list.
• Search for the Sound driver from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then
  remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website.

Step 2: Go to the Computer or Sound Card manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the Sound Card model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.

Choppy sound in Windows Apps (Windows 10)

Good morning,

I've got a HP Z-Book (i7-4700MQ, 8GB RAM, x64) and I can play sound and videos just fine using any non Microsoft App. For instance, if I go to youtube.com and play a video using Edge, I get choppy sound, if I use Firefox, it works just fine.

Opening up sound files does the same thing, if I open something in Groove or Windows Media Player, I get choppy sound. I've tried the auto repair, but that didn't fix the issue (it did fix my microphone issues). I've been running Windows Updates, but that
hasn't fixed the issue yet either.

My sound card driver is: ID high Definition Audio CODEC Driver Provider: IDT Date: 10/20/2014 Version: 6.10.6499.0

I checked HPs website and they don't have a driver for Windows 10 listed.
