  1. Chrome and Adverts

I start each morning by checking international news. For this post I shall use BBC News, London. I find that each page takes close to 5 minutes to completely load due to the number of adverts and videos that open (very slowly) at the top, along the sides, and at the bottom of each news item. It is getting to a point where I am starting to avoid BBC and go instead to CBC. But I miss BBC.

My question is: Is there any setting in Chrome to eliminate this waste of time by stopping these videos and adverts from auto-loading with every news item? (Sometimes I'm on my fifth tab and the first tab is still loading). I might mention that I have not tried any other browser except Edge which I dislike for other reasons - it still needs a lot of work before it reaches IE and Chrome standards.

    Thanks in advance

    :)

    Adverts popping up on chrome

Have you sought assistance from your antimalware provider (Avast, AVG, Avira, McAfee, Norton, etc)?

Are there any extensions that were added to your browser(s) that need to be disabled/removed?

For issues with popups while using Edge see the responses of GreginMich dated
March 7 and March 9, 2016: System error.

For issues with Google Chrome see How to stop unwanted pop-ups or homepage changes in Chrome,
and How to reset Google Chrome settings.

If you cannot resolve your issue see the following free multi-step removal guide from Malwaretips.com: How to remove Adware, Pop-up Ads and Redirects from Web Browser If
you do not see the program in Control Panel that you think is responsible for the ads and popups, you cannot uninstall it or the popups continue then move on to steps 2 through 4 (scan with AdwCleaner, JRT and Malwarebytes
Free). You may not need to use Hitman Pro (Trial Version) as suggested in step 5 but you may need to reset your browsers (see step 6).

    Good luck…

  3. Adverts popping up on chrome

Hi, I recently did a factory reset on my laptop and then upgraded to Windows 10. The first thing to pop up on my screen was System Healer which I managed to uninstall but I'm now getting adverts popping up when I access the Internet and have no idea how
to stop them. Hope someone can help.

  5. Thanks Bree. I downloaded the extension and it does make the page readable very quickly. One thing I noticed: Although an HTML5 video has been stopped it keeps trying and trying to run. Right now the BBC News main page has 22 videos but there were over 100 attempts to run. Thanks again.
