Windows 10: Chrome-based browsers freeze up on Windows 10 PC

I have 7 computers total in my home, but just one of them keeps freezing up on Chrome-based browsers, like Chrome and Brave. The PC's specs are an i7-4790, 16 gigs of RAM, and a 128 gig SSD, the highest-performing PC I have.

All of my computers have the same Chrome extensions, all synced with the same Google account, yet it's only the one computer. Firefox works fine, everything else works fine, but just not Chrome browsers.

Any ideas? Disabling extensions is a definite no, because I really need them, like AdBlock.

And before you say so, no, I don’t want to switch browsers.

Chrome keeps freezing on Windows 10

• Is this happening on other browsers as well (e.g. Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox)?

Setting Chrome as my default browser - Windows 10

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

I would suggest you to try these steps to see if it resolves the issue.

• Go to Start > Settings > System.
• Choose Default apps, then scroll down to
  Web browser.
• Tap or click the browser that’s currently listed as your default, then choose Chrome from the list of apps

Issues with making chrome as default browser on Windows 10.

This issue might occur if there is change in system settings or default browser program is change correctly.



I suggest you to follow the steps to change the default browser as Chrome browser and check if it helps.

1. Type "Control Panel" without the quotes in search box and click on it.

2. Click on Programs.

3. Then click on Default Programs and click on
Set Default Programs.

4. Click on chrome browser from the list.

5. Click on Set this program as default.
