Windows 10: Chrome browser Not Responding Message in Windows 10

Chrome has become unusable on my MS Surface Pro 8GB windows 10. Other browsers work fine: Mozilla, Edge. Chrome on other machines work fine. Internet connection is fine. I've removed all my extensions rather than just deactivate them. No video or audio webs being viewed.

I have cleared cookies and cache and reinstalled on Win10 without fixing.

Issues:
1. Takes forever to open one tab to view Google Mail. Get (Not Responding Message), After a fews minutes it sometime works and sometimes chromes window goes black and then crashes, shutting down chrome.

2. Chrome take 1 GB of DRAM.

3. Sometimes Chrome works although slowly with 4-5 tabs open. Then all the tabs start flashing and the (Not Responding) error shows up. It may crash or recover from this state.

4. With one tab open to Gmailtask manager shows 11 Google Chrome process icons open(?) and memory use 0.8GB to 1GB. Also GPU shows GPU 0 - 3D.

5. Some times the chrome will turn to a total black screen and then recover.


6. If I open 5 or 5 tabs the oeprations are slow and unpredicatble:
a) Chrome window can flash and reopen in working order or cause Chrome to stop as if I shut it down. Sometimes chrome will flash, close and then reopenm in under a couple seconds.

Do let us know the following to assist you better:

• Have you have tried to installed the flash player as suggested in the previous reply?
• Does the same issue persists on Microsoft Edge as well?
• Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?

Step 1: As you are facing issues with Internet Explorer, I suggest you to Reset Internet Explorer and check if it helps.

Change or reset Internet Explorer settings

Step 2: For issues with Google Chrome, I suggest you to uninstall the browser from Programs and features and reinstall it from the website. Check if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows + x key to open a task list from the bottom left corner of the screen.
  
• 
  Select Programs and Features.
  
• 
  Right click on Google Chrome
  and select uninstall and follow the onscreen instructions.
  

Try to download Google Chrome from the below link using Internet Explorer/ Microsoft Edge:

Issues with making chrome as default browser on Windows 10.

I realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with Windows 10. I will certainly help you.



This issue might occur if there is change in system settings or default browser program is change correctly.



I suggest you to follow the steps to change the default browser as Chrome browser and check if it helps.

1. Type "Control Panel" without the quotes in search box and click on it.

2. Click on Programs.

3. Then click on Default Programs and click on
Set Default Programs.

4. Click on chrome browser from the list.

5. Click on Set this program as default.

Setting Chrome as my default browser - Windows 10

I would suggest you to try these steps to see if it resolves the issue.

• Go to Start > Settings > System.
• Choose Default apps, then scroll down to
  Web browser.
• Tap or click the browser that’s currently listed as your default, then choose Chrome from the list of apps
