Windows 10: Chrome Desktop Shortcut That Is Pinned to Taskbar Shows the Profile Picture Twice, One Blurry

I have no idea if this is a Windows problem or Google.This is purely for aesthetic reasons. Image below shows what I mean Basically I have two chrome profiles and I have pinned their shortcuts to my taskbar. When I press on one of them, the chrome profile image shows up again, underneath and blurry. I don't like how it looks and was wondering how to remove the bottom image? I can't find the link, but after googling I found a forum where they said to change the icon of the chrome shortcut, via properties I'm not very tech savvy, don't know if I explained it properly. Pinned Chrome shortcut not visible on taskbar after restart


This is a strange problem that only occurs on my Windows 10 Home edition (Version 1703 build 15063.250) laptop.

I have always been able to pin Google Chrome to my taskbar without issue. Now when I pin it, the shortcut icon shows up for that session, but dissapears when I restart the computer. No other shortcut does this.

The shortcut is present in the C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar folder. The attached screenshot shows the shortcut is present, but not showing on the taskbar.





I normally use StartIsBack, but I disabled it and the shortcut continued to dissapear. I logged on with the Administrator account, same issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

How to pin Google Chrome with a specific user (profile) to Windows 10 taskbar?

1. Go to the Chrome settings
   
2. Go to "Change name and picture" in the People section
   
   
   
3. Toggle "Show desktop shortcut"
   
   
   
4. In case you already pinned your default Chrome to the taskbar you need to unpin it
   
5. Find the created shortcut on your desktop and pull it onto your start bar or right click and select "Pin to taskbar"
   
6. Repeat with other account

In pinning an app in taskbar and creating a desktop shortcut, follow the steps below.

A. How to pin apps to taskbar in Windows 10.

• Type Maps in Cortana Search.
• Right-click on it and choose Pin to Taskbar.

B. How to create desktop shortcut in Windows 10.

• Right-click an open area on the Desktop.
• Hover your mouse on New and click Shortcut.
• Click Browse.
• Click the program or file you want to create a shortcut.
• Choose Open and hit Next. You have the option to change the name for the shortcut.
  
• Click Finish button if it appears at the bottom of the dialog box.
• Click Next button if it appears at the bottom of the dialog box.
• Click the icon you want to use for the shortcut, and then click Finish.
