Windows 10: Chrome is my default browser but taskbar webpage links open in Edge

I used Edge to pin YouTube to my taskbar and have set Chrome as my default web browser. When I click on the YouTube taskbar icon, it opens in Edge. When I then check default apps > Google Chrome, there is no longer a checkmark next to the Set default. Why is this?? What is going on? I want my YouTube taskbar icon to open in my default web browser which is supposed to be Google Chrome.Any help is appreciated

Have you done these steps?

On your computer, click the Start menu Start menu.

Click Settings Settings.

Open your default apps:

Original version: Click System and then Default apps.

Creators Update: Click Apps and then Default apps.

At the bottom, under "Web browser," click your current browser (typically Microsoft Edge).

In the "Choose an app" window, click Google Chrome.

To easily open Chrome later, add a shortcut to your taskbar:

On your computer, open Chrome.

In the Windows taskbar at the bottom, right-click on Chrome.

Click Pin to taskbar.

Check and let me know.

How can I place web page links on Win10 Task Bar that will open in Edge? Did a recent Update break this?

•  Right click on your Windows 10 Taskbar.
•  Choose Properties option.
•  Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Window is available on your screen now.
•  To Add Link Toolbar to Windows 10 Taskbar, go to Toolbars option and check the Links box.

Step 2:

• Right click on the Taskbar on Windows 10 desktop and select the Toolbars option.
•  It will take you to another set of toolbar options and click on Links option.

1. Type Default programs in search bar on your system and open Default programs under Control Panel.
2. Select Set your Default programs under Choose the program that Windows use by default.
3. Select Microsoft Edge as default program in the Set your Default programs Window.
4. Then click on OK and check, if it helps you.

Installing Flash opens Chrome instead of default browser

I use IE, Edge and Firefox, with IE as default browser. Edge/IE of course get Flash through Windows Update but periodically I have to install Flash for Firefox. I can confirm that the expected behaviour of the Flash installer is, on completion, to open your default browser at a page saying...

This is just an advert, not a necessary step in the install, but it is labelled as 'Step 3 of 3'. Steps 1 and 2 were seen in Firefox, the browser I started the install from, as the first two steps in installing/updating Flash. The install requires the browser to be restarted to be complete, so it opens the 'Step 3' page itself in the default browser. It has always amused me that it opens IE and not the Firefox I was installing it for.

I don't have Chrome, so can't test the behaviour described, but I have never seen anything other than my default browser open. I've just tested reinstalling Flash in Firefox, only IE opened on completion.
