Can't download Google Chrome on new Windows 10 machine with Microsoft Edge

First thing I've tried to do with my new hybrid laptop is download Chrome. Edge is the default installed browser. I get security warnings when I go to the Google website, but I at least get the option of continuing anyway when I navigate to the Chrome download
page. Yet when I click to do the download, I get a page saying there's a problem connecting securely to the website and my only option is to go to my homepage instead.

This sure feels like Microsoft making it impossible for me to use a non-Microsoft browser. Anyone know how I can bend Edge to my will?
