Clean install and Defender immediately starts blocking WmiPrvSe

    FeelsBadMan …

Why does WmiPrvSE get blocked for making changes to memory when I just wiped my harddrive, downloaded a new updated Windows image and completly started from scratch?

Eventlog reports about 10 min after the installation:

    63 errors

    172 warnings

    8 fails

Now that might not be the highest of the numbers but to me, a clean start shouldn't be this noisy. The eventlog is generating alot of negative positive outcomes and the computer is going all crazy with the CPU cooler. Sounds like it's gonna leave out the window any second. :|

And just as I typed this the activity bar flashed about 5 times in a.. pretty slow and calm way but it's still not very nice to see stuffs like that after a new start... Clean install and Defender immediately starts blocking WmiPrvSe :(

I've been searching for months for answers about what Windows is doin on the inside.

Instead of playing games, streaming on Twitch, writing code and playing some melodies I've been diving deep down the Microsoft Eventlog. :| Now I do appreciate to learn new stuffs about all the things I find enjoying and even if this dive has giving me a better understand about several layers of complexity I still sometimes wish I would.. you know.. not see a couple, a few hundred or a few thousand new errors and warning the next time Im cheching the Eventlog.

I just want my operativsystem to function.. Clean install and Defender immediately starts blocking WmiPrvSe :( To behave.. To compute without dropping errors and warnings like the errors and warning are a mic and the computer is.. like..... Obama.. :|

Maybe I'm a bit off topic now. Or maybi the last months of windows/eventlog/errors-and-warnings frustration is geting to me.

How ever it might be, I still wonder...

Why is Defender notifying me about a system process trying to make changes to memory? :|

    :)

  2. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

Windows Defender Blocking Installations of Downloaded Apps

    Hi Craig,

There's a possibility that the SmartScreen option is on that's why you're unable to install downloaded apps. Let's try to turn it off and see if it helps. See the steps below:

    • Open Windows Defender Security Center from your Start menu, desktop, or taskbar.
    • Click on the App and browser control button on the left side of the window.
    • Click on Off in the Check apps and files section.

Let us know if the suggestion helps you out.
