Windows 10: Clean install. Can't sign into Microsoft account on store/as user account. "Something went...

Hey bros,

As it sounds. Clean install. Made a local account. Transferred over a mountain of stuff from my old rig.

Except now I can't sign into my MS account from my PC (obviously, I can still sign in on other devices/from my web browser).

Tried EVERYTHING to fix it. Driving me crazy because I pay for game pass, and... now I can't use it. Tried to turn my local account into an MS account instead via "sign in with a Microsoft account instead" and it throws the same error, "something went wrong".

And yes, I have a legitimate copy of Windows 10 that is updated.

This is absolutely driving me crazy. Does anybody know anything? Ever encountered anything similar?

edit: Curiously, my login attempts visible from my account online say that all of my attempts have been successful via microsoft edge. Except... they're not.

Hi Micheal,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

• Is this the only account on the computer?
• Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
• Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.

Yes. When you sign in to the Store with a Microsoft account like in step 5 in Option Two of the tutorial below instead of switching to a Microsoft account you will and stay a local account.

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store
