How to do a clean install of Windows 10 on a new SSD that will replace a failing HDD and corrupted data files in a Laptop PC?
There seems to be a lot of old posts that touch on various subjects that I need help with but none that lump them all together. This is a clean install of Windows 10 on a new SSD on a Laptop PC that was previously upgraded to Windows 10 with the free upgrade just prior to the free upgrade becoming unavailable. About 6 months ago intermittent weird problems began to appear and with the help of various support groups and Windows Community we came to the conclusion that the HDD needed to be replaced(failed Seagate's drive test) with an SSD (My Choice) and a clean install of Windows 10(corrupted data files in the OS).
I was given a URL to download and burn to DVD an ISO file of Windows 10 PRO 64bit OS. I purchased a 240GB Sandisk SSD. I don't need to partition this drive as the single C: partition is adequate for size and speed.
Is there a step by step procedure listed somewhere that preps(formats?) the SSD using disk management for Windows 10 and then using the ISO file that I burned to a DVD, installs Windows 10 on to my SSD? I am not familiar with ISO files and am assuming that is something that is sent to you to boot from and install from when you order SW from MS.

    :)

windows 10 clean install product key

Upgrade from W7 to W10 on old HDD and clean install on new SSD?

I just purchased a new dell computer with Windows 7 Pro installed on a HDD.

I want to change the HDD to a SSD and upgrade from W7 to W10.

I want to do a clean install of W10 on the new SSD and install the appropriate device drivers.

It is my understanding that before I do a clean install on an empty drive I first need to upgrade to Windows 10 from an activated install of Windows 7, then when I do the clean install I can leave the product key blank and the clean install will still activate
    successfully?

My question has to do with the new SSD. The Dell computer is brand new .
Can I do the Window 7 to Windows 10 upgrade on the old drive HDD and then put in the new SSD and do a clean install, or do I need to change the HDD to the SSD before doing the upgrade? which would then require than wiping the new SSD to do a clean install?

I would like to save the step of copying the Dell HDD image to the new SSD prior doing the upgrade, but I'm concerned that by upgrading on one drive and than trying to auto-activate on a new drive might result in an activation issue.

    Windows 10 Upgrade Failure From Windows 7 Pro 64bit 0xC1900101 - 0x20017

    Win 10 installation succeeded.

I removed the SSD and replaced it with a spare HDD i had lying around

Did a clean windows 7 pro 64 bit install from cd on the HDD

Created a Windows 10 installing dvd with my latop

Upgraded from the fresh Windows 7 install using the new windows 10 disk

Upgrade took most of the day but it worked

    Conclusion

My SSD is either failing or it is in a format that windows 10 does not like

Clean install Windows 10 on new SSD to rplace failing HDD and corrupte

It's very simple you need DVD burning software to write the ISO to DVD if you download from ms it will give you the option for DVD or USB. You then set PC to boot from DVD that's it let windows do its thing it will create partition and install login with your ms account and it will activate

  6. I followed the ISO Download prgram instructions that burned the ISO file to a DVD and then executed the program and did a clean install of Windows 10 PRO 64bit OS. The Feature Update lversion level of the ISO file was 1709. I have reinstalled all of my programs and all of my saved data files. The Unstable Laptop mPC is stable. I also did the clean install on a new SSD that replaced the existing HDD with a great bump in performance. All is well.
