Windows 10: Clean Install Windows 10

Hi i originally used window 7 then i updated to windows 10 over the top of windows 7 and all was ok.

But i have just done a reformat of my hard drive and installed windows 10 from a iso

But now one of my apps will not run when i try to use it i get a message

"Unspecified Error"

Has anybody got any ideas on what i need to do please

Thanks for clarifying.

I want to reinstall Windows 10 AND also make sure that the disk is fully cleaned (as I am about to sell the PC).

Based on your reply, I downloaded the fresh install tool and proceeded - it worked fine and I have a clean install of Windows 10 now.

However, I don't think this will have fully cleaned the files from the disk. It only took 1 hour or so to do the clean install so I think it probably just deleted the file locations register not the files themselves.

How do I make sure the hard disk has had all the files deleted from it?

Hi the app is7stack its a small app that lets you place shortcuts in a folder then it places a icon on the desktop, then with one click all the shortcuts are read to run

It worked ok before i did a clean install from the iso, i also have another app that worked before called folder marker and that one just will not run at all now.





I have done a disk check and that showed no errors

 

You could try compatibility mode and set it to Windows 7. But I suspect that the software might not support Windows 10.

 

Did you try reinstalling your 7stack? 1st uninstall it, then reinstall. According to a google search it does run under Windows 10. Has not been updated thou since 2011

 

Hi yes i have tried the compatibility mode and its just the same.

I think it does run under windows 10 as i have used it on windows 10 since i upgraded to 10 and i have it running on a laptop under windows 10 with no problem

And yes i have uninstalled it several times then reinstalled and its the same

It did work before i did a clean install

 

Did you try running compatibility mode on it?? Right Click on your programs app and you should see this screen.

Hi all just an update to my above problems with two of my apps.

Before i did the clean install of windows 10 i had made a full partition image backup

I have just restored this image back onto the C Drive and both apps work just fine under my old version of windows 10.

But now I have restored my new install and the problem is back

So i am left with the thought something must be corrupt or missing from my new install but just what it it evades me

I have also ran sfc /scannow and there were no errors

It's probably some additional "support" software such as a specific version of .net framework or Visual Basic runtime files.
