Windows 10: Clean up system files not available in "Disk Cleanup"?

Hi,


I am working with a Lenovo notebook with only a 30GB harddrive for the OS and I've done a Repair reinstall.

Only there are now only 2.22GB free of the 30GBs and I need to install a copy of Microsoft Office.


I've done this on other notebook laptops and was able to get the free space up to 13 GBs using "Disk Cleanup". This is because Disk Cleanup on these computers offered to "Clean up system files". I was then able to delete "Previous Windows installation(s)."


When I tried to use Disk Cleanup on this option to "Clean up system files" is not available.


Is there a way to delete "Previous Windows installation(s)." on this Lenovo anyhow. If so how would I do that?

Hi joysoder, to properly and safely delete any files not required by your system, run Disk Cleanup twice as explained below. Each time select everything in the list and delete them. Disk Cleanup will not suggest deleting anything that is not safe to delete

Open File Explorer

Click on your hard drive

On the Manage Tab, click Cleanup

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

Start Disk Cleanup again

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

This time in the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup System Files'

Let Disk Cleanup run another scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

 

Disk Cleanup-clean up system files- windows 10 not working

Tried all suggested fixes sfc, safe mode, etc. but nothing works.....AND I have the SAME problem on TWO DIFFERENT computers.....a Dell and a Lenovo. Disk Cleanup goes through all the steps, but does nothing to Cleanup the files it finds.

i don't see a way to search in taskbar as following recommends Disk cleanup in Windows 10
