    Clean up versions in Windows 10 Backup not working?


    I have set up my Synology NAS as Raid 1 and backup my data to it using Windows Backup. I am backing up from 3 different drives C: is an SSD and the other 2 are internal hard drives and when I go to clean up old versions I get the error message "Could not clean up file history data, Element not found." The backup seems to be working fine, I checked and all of my latest files are there from the last backup ... only the clean up versions doesn't work? I went to my event history log and the following message occurred many times. "Unusual condition was encountered during

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
