Windows 10: Clean Windows 10 Install won't reboot after installation

So I'm having a weird dilemma that I can't seem to solve.


I'm building a new computer specs below and trying to install Windows 10. I downloaded the Media Creation Tool and created a new USB disk to install, plugged into the new computer, and installed Windows. Everything seemed to go quite quickly less than 10 minutes to install and cleanly--install was apparently successful as I got to the desktop. Started to install some drivers and rebooted. That's when the trouble started. On reboot, it wouldn't go to the desktop. So I thought I had some corrupt drivers or something, so I reinstalled clean deleted partitions, full install. Got to the desktop again, and decided to reboot without installing anything. Same issue as before.


When it would boot, it would post, act like it was trying to load windows, then reboot. It would go through that a couple times then open the Windows troubleshooter.


Here's my setup:

MSI x470 Gaming Pro Carbon

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X

Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR4 3200 2x16gb

Sabrent Rocket Q NVMe M.2 1TB


A few things I've tried: Double checked that CSM was off and UEFI is on. Double checked that AHCI is enabled.


Any ideas what is going on? I couldn't even count the number of times I've installed Windows on various machines over the years, and I can't for the life of me figure out what is happening.

Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:

• Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
• When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
• Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
• When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
• This time enter your product key
• When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
• Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it

Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

 

Clean Windows 10 (?PRO?) install

I have bought a legit "Windows 10 Pro" key of a key website. It is legit since i'm currently using it for over a year now. I currently have Windows 10 Pro installed on my PC and I want to do a clean install. I just can't find the windows 10 Pro download in the tool. But if i could use a windows 10 pro key with a normal windows 10 install, I'll be good to go.
