    Clearing browser and SSD

I am about to create a new installation of Windows 10 on a new SSD. Because of the nature of SSD's I want to make sure that temporary files, cache etc from programs like Microsoft Edge, Firefox, browsers and websites like YouTube etc NEVER go on the SSD. I am not meaning how to clear cache I know how to do that. I mean I NEVER WANT IT TO GO THERE TO BEGIN WITH.

I use software that automatically overwrites these files 35 times when I exit a browser.

I have been told to install the browser on my D: drive and that I can do but: 1 does putting a browser on a secondary drive assure that all temp files, cache cookies etc will be stored on that drive and 2 how does that help with Microsoft Edge since it is automatically installed with Windows 10.

    Any suggestions will be welcome.

    :)

  2. Clear Pagefile on Shutdown

I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:
    1. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
    2. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.
    3. Restart Windows.
I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?

There is a lot to be desired in that incomplete query.

    Web browser or file browser?

Let's assume the former, as most people just refer to any internet / web browser as just a "browser" and few think about the other things (like Windows Explorer) as "browsers", although that is what they are/what they do.

You posted in the Windows 10 forum.

Let's assume Microsoft Edge or Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (although you could install a host of other "web" browsers.)

    So...

    Microsoft Edge

    LMGTFY

    The first "Microsoft" official hit:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10607/microsoft-edge-view-delete-browser-history

    • To view your browsing history, select Hub (3-lines icon) > History (Clock icon).
    • Select Clear all history.
    • Choose the types of data you want to remove from your PC, then select Clear.
    • If you use Cortana and want to clear browsing history that's stored in the cloud, select Change what Microsoft Edge knows about me in the cloud, then select Clear browsing history.

    Microsoft Internet Explorer 11

    LMGTFY

    The first "Microsoft" official hit:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...nternet-explorer-view-delete-browsing-history

    • In Internet Explorer, select the Tools (Gear icon) button, point to Safety, and then select Delete browsing history.
    • Choose the types of data or files you want to remove from your PC, and then select Delete.

Hopefully, one of those is what you needed. Either way, please return to this post and let everyone know how you got along and/or what you needed originally (if those options did not answer your question sufficiently.)

    Hi Frank,

    Thank you for your response.

To understand the issue better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

In which browser are you facing the issue?

Did you try the above step of performing the clean boot and trying to clear?

Please post us back with the results to help you better.
