Windows 10: Clicking File Explorer in Taskbar causes crash

A few days ago, I started receiving a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error anytime I clicked File Explorer in the taskbar, provided a window wasn't already open. Explorer would crash, restart, and the icon would work for about a minute, before clicking it caused another crash. Right-clicking folder icons can also cause this crash.I just clean installed my entire laptop with a new drive, and after installing all available Windows updates, the problem persists, this time though without an error. I'm able to access folders through other shortcuts, like This PC and

It's a WIN 7 glitch, Registry problem. Could be caused by a lot of apps, especially AV/AS.

• What happens when you left clicking?
• When you say right click, do you actually mean left click?
• Which all troubleshooting steps have you already tried to resolve this issue?

Left clicking with mouse will open File explorer or any other programs. Whereas right click will give you context menu.

I suggest you to right-click on the File Explorer
on the task bar and select Unpin from Taskbar. Now in the search bar type
File Explorer and right click on it and select Pin it to Taskbar
and check if it helps.
