Windows 10: clicking volume icon doesn't do anything, trying to access volume settings causes program...

Not sure what could have happened, but left clicking the icon won't bring up the volume bar, or will take minutes before it happens. Trying to get to the volume access causes the program to stay in the loading position indefinitely. Running windows 10, by the way.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Type "Turn system icons on and off" without the quotes and click on it.

3. Turn off and then try to turn on the volume icon
from the list.

If the issue still persist, refer to the method below.

Method 2: Try to update the audio driver in the Device Manager and check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on Enter Key.

3. Expand Audio inputs and outputs.

4. Right click on the driver and click on Update Driver Software.

Volume icon wont open

Corrupted system files and Windows update components may trigger issues in opening the
volume icon on your taskbar. For us to rectify your issue, follow these steps:

• Press Windows key + I.
• Click Personalization.
• Choose Taskbar.
• Under the Notification area, click on Turn system icons on or off.
• Toggle off the Volume option.
• Restart your computer.
• Perform steps 1-5, then toggle on the Volume option.

Verify if you will be able to launch the volume icon on your taskbar after performing the procedures above. This will refresh the default settings enabled on your taskbar.
